Unravelling the Manor House, Preston Manor, Brighton
I was selected to join 11 other artists to create a site-specific installation with contemporary craft group Unravelled. I researched into the lives of the servants of Preston Manor in Brighton, a former Edwardian gentry house, dating from c.1600, rebuilt in 1738 and substantially added to in 1905. The house and its contents gave a rare insight into life during the early years of the 20th century.
My stop-motion animations were then projected onto a screenprinted dressing screen to illuminate imagined lives of some of the Edwardian staff, like a moving repeat pattern.
